Counselling to Parents

A Mother & Child emotional well being initiative by Harchan Foundation Trust.

Who We Are

Families who take care of children with disabilities are exposed to challenges of intensive and demanding, sometimes lifelong care. Embrace believes that it is our responsibility as a community to render our hands in support to those families. Embrace is an open community platform created for parents with special need children by Harchan Foundation Trust (HFT). This project is initiated and led by Mrs.Vijayalakshmi Asaithambi, Trustee (HFT) along with a team of committed volunteers. Embrace aims at the emotional well-being of the families having special need children.

Our Mission

The purpose of Embrace is to provide the knowledge & support that is required for parents of children with special needs / professionals working with them and help them make informed choices for the child’s development.

Our Vision

We envision a world where children of all abilities are valued, respected and included.

What We Do

Awareness Programs

Embrace conducts free webinars to provide knowledge and information to parents & professionals on

  • Learning about the different needs
  • Better intervention strategies
  • Coping with the emotional and physical demands of caring a child with special needs

We also conduct free workshops to create awareness in the schools and communities towards creating a better inclusive society.

Emotional Support

Parents of children with special needs are often exhausted and frequently become depressed. Their reserves of time and resources for self-care are even more depleted than those of parents of typical children. Yet their need for refueling is also greater. To be sustained through the marathon of caring for a child with special needs, it is essential that parents attend to their own needs.

Embrace provides emotional support to parents and relatives of special need children through free counselling. Embrace online counselling team has counsellors and mentors across India.

We believe in building a better emotional support network to parents, which will in turn help them to handle the journey of parenting more effectively.
